Tinder Leave - Gimmick or Goal?

WOULD YOU OFFER YOUR EMPLOYEES TINDER LEAVE?

A Thai marketing agency is doing just that, offering their employees time off to date, with 6-months Tinder subscriptions. So, what might be the reasoning behind this?

The wellbeing & performance connection

  1. Research shows there is a positive correlation between employee wellbeing and company performance.

  2. Meaningful relationships are a critical component to wellbeing levels.

  3. This benefit recognises and acknowledges personal sacrifices may sometimes be made for professional goals.

  4. This approach can generate a sense of care, understanding and empathy within the workplace, whilst fostering commitment & engagement levels.

  5. It offers a fresh approach to addressing todays blurred work-life boundaries. Seeking to go with new ways of working, rather than against them.

  6. The additional leave promotes a sense of balance and autonomy within employees, in-turn improving wellbeing levels and mitigating against burn-out.

  7. It may address a genuine, real-life challenge their employees are facing.

Getting innovative with wellbeing & performance

Whilst this may not feasible, viable or even desirable in all environments, I love to see companies:

  • Getting curious about their people’s needs and challenges.

  • Testing innovative ways to support their people to both be their best and do their best work.

  • Understanding and appreciating employee’s holistic wellbeing and the impacts this may have.

  • Offering solutions to challenges which go beyond legal requirements and promote thriving.

  • Considering what’s desirable and how best to attract and retain their people.

 What are your thoughts?

How else might organisations build thriving individuals who foster thriving organisations?
